Best of Three
So world, just thought we'd let you know...
John sent a 30. Old Chicken Makes Good Soup 8a+ - finished.
Oh and by the way, world, you really should know that...
Tiff sent a 28. Gaeng Som Pla 7c+, with a gaping flapper (huge bloody burst blister) on her finger.
So then world, how do you like them apples?
We think we're ready to take you on now.
ps. To friends and family: We have approximately 10 days left here with no projects to send so now we're living it up (reading and playing cards lots). Each project was sent with a storm brewing in the background and now they've broken and Tonsai is engulfed in broody clouds, clapping thunder, thunderous downpours and glorious lightning.
On a funny side note, John happened to have his eye on two pairs of fishermen pants at the local store, but was not so happy with the price. Bargaining didn't work, so being the pool (billiards) addict that John is, Tiff thought it would be appropriate to challenge Wat (the local bar manager and shopkeep) to a deal hinging on a three game tournament. If John won, he paid for one (180 baht) and got one free. If Wat won, John had to pay 500 baht for two pairs. The first nail-biting game was taken out by John; Wat took out the second in another close game. By this time, word had spread around Freedom Bar as to the stakes involved, and the table was surrounded by Thai locals and farangs alike. A tough battle ensued, with the lead scuttling back and forth between the two sweaty-browed challengers, much to the delight of the onlooking crowd. Until finally, Wat closed the deal, potting the eight in fine fashion. And now John wanders the beaches of Tonsai in fine fashion (although he got a little more than he bargained for). Through an exciting three game series, both players and spectators had a fantastic time, and a new friendship was forged. Such moments are an absolute joy, where there's no language barrier, no cultural difference - just two blokes having a bet and a bloody good time.
And to our fellow Rayavadee diners: To give you an update on our favourite waiter/host...
While Tiff and John were lounging on the beach in Phra Nang, and the waitstaff were busily setting up for the night's services, a familiar face with beaming smile descended upon us. Casually jumping the barrier that separates the 'elite' from regular beach-goers, he chatted with us for a while (we were so pleased he remembered us!), telling us that he is much happier now, as his wife is working at Rayavadee with him (as opposed to working in Ao Nang and riding a scooter home to Krabi, alone, at 12 o'clock at night). He is very pleased to be able to go to work with her, and come home with her.
Time to jump on a longboat and plunge into very stormy seas, and be at the mercy of Buddha, Allah, Poseidon and whoever else is out here (we're not sure if the Christian God has a visa here).
Very Thankful,
saintrinity
John and Tiff
